The Indian men’s quadrant team confirmed a bronze medal after losing its semifinal to Japan at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya.
A 12-15, 13-15 defeat confirmed that India took home its third medal in the sport at the Asian Games, and the first in this edition.
Starting with a quartet of Ram Kumar Sharma, Malemnganba Singh Sorokhaibam, Bobby Kumar, and Akash Singh Yumnam, India played out a tightly-contested first set but was unable to get over the line.
Japan proved more dominant in the second set, racing into a 5-1 lead on its way to a comfortable victory despite India staging a late comeback to 13-12.
India shares the bronze with Myanmar, which lost the other semifinal to Indonesia.
This is India’s third medal in sepaktakraw at the Asian Games. It had previously won bronze in the men’s team regu in 2018 and women’s regu in 2023.
