AmaZulu’s Zimbabwean star wins Betway Premiership award

The Zimbabwean striker played four matches for AmaZulu during August. He scored five goals and provided one assist.

It was a stunning return from the 25-year-old, who has quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in the Betway Premiership.

THANDOLWENKOSI NGWENYA’S RISE CONTINUES AT AMAZULU

Ngwenya’s clinical finishing has now earned him individual recognition after an impressive start to the campaign.

Before arriving in South Africa, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya had already built a strong reputation in Zimbabwe. The striker developed his game with FC Platinum, based in Zvishavane.

His physical presence and sharp instincts in front of goal made him one of the country’s most promising young forwards.

During his final spell with the platinum miners, Ngwenya enjoyed an excellent domestic campaign.

He scored nine league goals to spearhead the attack. His final appearance for FC Platinum also ended in memorable fashion.

Ngwenya scored against Simba Bhora before making the move to Durban. His performances soon opened the door to international football.

NGWENYA MAKES HIS MARK

Ngwenya made his senior debut for Zimbabwe at just 22 years old. The striker featured in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

He then made an even bigger impression at the 2025 COSAFA Cup in South Africa. Ngwenya scored twice during the tournament.

His performances earned him a place in the Team of the First Round. That form caught the attention of AmaZulu FC. The Durban-based club moved quickly.

Ngwenya completed his switch to the Betway Premiership in July 2025, signing a two-year contract.

Now, just over a year later, the striker has added another major achievement to his growing résumé.

Five goals. One assist. Four matches. And the Betway Premiership Player of the Month award belongs to Ngwenya.
