A Toronto police officer is injured after being shot during a robbery investigation early Thursday morning.
Officers responded to a robbery call for a stolen e-bike on Thursday morning, said Toronto police spokesperson Stephanie Miceli. She said police located a suspect near Bloor Street E. and Sherbourne Street around 3:21 a.m.
During the interaction, the suspect shot one of the officers, Miceli said.
The officer was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, she said. Toronto paramedics did not share any details and referred all responses to police instead.
The suspect has been arrested and a firearm was recovered at the scene, said Miceli. She said the investigation is ongoing.
