Prabowo cites government's achievements after two years in office

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has stated that his government, in nearly two years, has achieved a number of successes that have benefited the Indonesian nation and people.

"We have proven to the Indonesian people that we have achieved real successes that have been beneficial for the Indonesian nation and people," Prabowo said during an event marking the 100th anniversary of the Darussalam Gontor Islamic Boarding School in Ponorogo, East Java, on Saturday.

Prabowo said he now feels optimistic because his administration has been running for nearly two years since receiving the people's mandate.

The President said these successes were achieved together with the coalition supporting the government, as well as ministers and governors who he said have worked to assist the administration.

"I am confident because we have now proven that we are not leaders who just talk," the President said.

According to Prabowo, he does not know in detail all the achievements made by the government, since the main focus throughout his administration has been working quickly.

"I myself do not fully understand how much we have done for the Indonesian people, because our focus is to work, work, work. Work quickly," he said.

Prabowo then cited a number of things he said the government had achieved, including food self-sufficiency and the availability of food reserves.

"Alhamdulillah, we have achieved food self-sufficiency. Our food reserves are sufficient," he said.

He also said the government had anticipated adverse weather conditions, including El Nino and drought.

In addition to food, Prabowo also touched on the government's efforts to achieve energy self-reliance, saying Indonesia has stopped importing diesel fuel since July 1.

"Our diesel fuel is now self-sufficient," he said.

He said the diesel fuel is produced from palm oil, which he said has many benefits and can be used for various purposes.

Prabowo also announced plans to build thousands of fishing vessels starting next year as part of the government's efforts to manage Indonesia's maritime resources.

These various efforts, he said, are aimed to achieve Indonesia's self-reliance, especially in food and energy, so that Indonesia does not depend on other nations.

"We are grateful, we should be grateful to the Almighty, for we have been given extraordinary strength. It is now up to us, up to whether our leaders are reliable or not," Prabowo noted.
