18-year-old Iva Jovic defeated Peyton Stearns in straight sets to secure her second consecutive title at the Guadalajara Open on Saturday, September 19.
Jovic defeated her fellow American Stearns 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 26 minutes on her return to the site of her maiden WTA Tour triumph.
The contest proved closely fought, with both players trading holds through the first eight games without a single break point. However, Jovic eventually found the breakthrough after 46 minutes to claim the first set.

“It’s amazing to be back here in the final with this beautiful trophy and this sombrero,” Jovic said during the trophy presentation.
“I love it here. You guys have given me so much energy. The crowd is my favorite thing about coming here, so thank you so much for being here.”
As a result of this victory, Jovic will move up to a career-best 13th in the WTA rankings, marking the first time she has entered the top 20.
