How to watch You Can See Everything - when is it available to watch in the UK?

In the history of the Academy Awards, a documentary has never been nominated for best picture – but there are early signs that could be about to change at next year's ceremony.

You Can See Everything, the highly acclaimed and much discussed three-hour epic about convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes, is being tipped as a major player for the 2026 awards season, with some pundits even going so far as saying it could win the big prize.

Helmed by Primetime's Lance Oppenheim and Nathan For You's Nathan Fielder – who also appears on camera – the film has already become a sensation across the pond, where it was released on Friday 16 October after first turning heads as a surprise film at the Telluride Film Festival.

But as the film continues to pick up plaudits, UK viewers will no doubt be wondering when they can watch the film on this side of the Atlantic.

Read on for everything you need to know, including some more (spoiler-free) details about exactly what the film is all about.

Although the film is now available to watch in cinemas for viewers in the US and Canada, those of us hoping to see it in the UK have a little longer to wait.

But the good news is that an official release date has been confirmed: the movie will arrive in UK cinemas on Friday 20 November, so just one month to go at time of writing.

The film is being distributed by A24 and should hopefully get a pretty wide release, although exact showtimes aren't available at this stage.

In the US and Canada, it performed extremely well in its opening weekend, grossing $15 million from just 855 screens – making it the largest debut for any film playing on under 1000 screens since Borat in 2006.

Those takings also mean it has already earned double its production budget, which was estimated at $7 million.

What is You Can See Everything actually about?

As mentioned above, the film's subject matter is Elizabeth Holmes, the businesswoman and convicted fraudster who founded the health technology company Theranos and became the youngest and wealthiest self-made female billionair in the US.

In 2015, Holmes and Theranos became the subject of fraud accusations and she was eventually found guilty of defrauding investors at a trial in January 2022. She was sentenced to serve 11 and a quarter years in prison and to pay $452 million in restitution to the victims of the fraud.

Holmes story was previously retold in the 2022 Hulu drama series The Dropout, which starred Amanda Seyfried in the lead role and was based on Rebecca Jarvis's ABC News podcast of the same name about the case.

In You Can See Everything, Holmes invites a film crew – led by Fielder and Oppenheim – to document her every move in the month before she is sent to prison.

The official synopsis teases: "What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon soon becomes a mind-bending, three-year journey into the abyss."

Exactly what happens from then on is probably best left discovering for yourself upon watching the film, but it's certainly one that is getting people talking.
