Fans of Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive may want to mark down their calendars, as the release of Stormlight: Tidebreakers has been set for October 2027. It’s a huge moment for fans of the author and his Cosmere universe. Stormlight Season 2 was confirmed even before Season 1 started filming, for example, showing just how much potential the TV adaptation has, based on the books. Apart from expanding into screens, the Cosmere is also reaching the tabletop setting with some TTRPG news.

In August, we received confirmation about a new Stormlight expansion called Tidebreakers, which will be a new campaign setting for the Stormlight Campaign within the Cosmere TTRPG. As was highlighted by user Atlas333 in a post on 17thShard, Stormlight: Tidebreakers was announced during GenCon, and it is set to be released in October 2027, with a specific date yet to be determined. While we’re still a full year away from the new expansion, some information has already been revealed.

The announcement of Stormlight: Tidebreakers in August led to some intriguing details about what players can expect from the playable content in the future. For example, the new expansion will be a sequel to the Stonewalkers adventure, which was released a while ago. While Stonewalkers was a level 1-8 adventure, Stormlight: Tidebreakers will be a level 10-16 adventure within the Cosmere TTRPG. According to the team that presented the game at GenCon, you can homebrew the adventures between those levels or simply level up characters to 10 to start Tidebreakers.

It was also revealed that the Stormlight: Tidebreakers adventure will be set in the Reshi Isles during the events of the Oathbringer, Rhythm of War, and Wind and Truth novels. With the setting’s themes of naval and jungle warfare, players can expect a breath of fresh air for their adventures with the release of Stormlight: Tidebreakers in October 2027. Of course, it will not make up for the lack of new books within the Stormlight series, but it will offer players a new way to immerse themselves in that universe.

Stormlight Tidebreakers expansion Cosmere RPG

If you’re unfamiliar with it, the Cosmere TTRPG is a rather new D20 system that allows you to play campaigns within the Stormlight universe, as well as Mistborn’s world of Scadrial. There’s a lot of campaign development happening right now, so other pieces of the Cosmere will arrive soon, too, even as larger series, like Stormlight itself, are still getting adapted.

Fans who back the Tidebreakers project on Kickstarter will gain access to a special adventure called Showdown in Shadesmar for free in early 2027. This adventure may serve as the gap-filler between the Stonewalkers adventure and the Tidebreakers campaign, should your GM be interested. This is the best moment to be a fan of Brandon Sanderson and his The Stormlight Archive, as his biggest series is getting some remarkable attention.
