Stardew Valley is one of those games that just won't quit. It hit its 10-year anniversary in February, but you wouldn't really know it. It feels like Stardew is always being celebrated, with a perpetual anniversary of sorts, each year since it came out.
Creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone inspired an entire generation of creators, turning something out of nothing into a multi-million-dollar empire. The game's quality ultimately sings above anything else, which is why so many people are still playing it.
Now, thanks to an official announcement on X, you can play a brand-new release featuring content that's never been playable before.
The official X account for the Stardew Valley: Symphony of Seasons concert series revealed that the first-ever Stardew Valley arcade cabinets will roll out later this year. They sport custom art by artist MK/RET, dynamic lighting, rumble feedback, and other mechanics unique to the arcade editions.
To be clear, there are two separate cabinets, each sporting one of the iconic arcade minigames from Stardew Valley: Journey of the Prairie King, and Junimo Kart Race. Amazingly, the new content comes in the form of multiplayer support. Neither game supports two-player play, including a casual high-score-chase challenge. These cabinets release on October 25, when they'll be free to play at the Symphony of Seasons Red Rocks show at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.
As a reminder, Symphony of Seasons is a concert series curated by creator ConcernedApe, and it's traveled all across the country with repeat tours. It celebrates the series' music with a full symphony, plus clips from the show and extras like merchandise and video messages from ConcernedApe. There's also a smaller "Festival of Seasons" run, which is an 11-piece chamber orchestra rather than a full 35-piece for Symphony.
There is no official word on whether these two-player versions will arrive in Stardew Valley one day, but if you're attending the October 25 Colorado concert, you can at least try them then.
Hopefully, if they're a hit, they'll keep showing up in other Stardew events in the future. After all, this game isn't going anywhere, and the release of Haunted Chocolatier will no doubt re-invigorate the franchise once again.
If you're a Stardew Valley fan, you probably aren't giving up that fandom anytime soon. It has an endearing, long-lasting quality, especially with the strong character designs of the Prairie King and Junimo Kart Race in-game minigames.
