Rohan Campbell Teases Directorial Debut Plans: “A Very Personal Story”

Translate

After steadily growing his onscreen career in recent years, Rohan Campbell is ready to step behind the camera.

The Below star recently revealed that he’s planning to make his directorial debut next summer with “a very personal story,” for which he’s currently awaiting a greenlight.

“I’ve got a couple of things on the go right now. I’m trying to direct my own movie in the summer of next year, which I’m really excited about. It’s a cute idea, so we’re sort of just trying to get all systems to go on that one,” Campbell told Film Updates. “It’s a big part of my focus, and it’s a very personal story.”

After making his onscreen debut at 10 years old, Campbell broke out as Frank Hardy on Hulu’s The Hardy Boys, which ran for three seasons from 2020 to 2023. He’s since become a “scream king” with roles in Halloween Ends (2022), The Monkey (2025) and Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025).

Campbell can currently be seen in Netflix’s Below, playing the troubled Newfoundland expat Jay Penney, one of fisherman Calvin Penney’s (Josh Hartnett) three kids. When their town is targeted by a mysterious sea creature, the family must fight to protect their community.
