Kris Lawrence admits he can ‘never unlove’ one ex in new single ‘Unlove You’

Amid his renewed closeness with former partner Katrina Halili, Kris Lawrence admitted that there is one ex he could never completely stop loving as he released his new single, “Unlove You.”
The “Prince of R&B” opens up about that lingering kind of love in his latest single, a collaboration with Grammy Award-winning songwriter and Britain’s Got Talent alumnus Lil Eddie.
The song explores the complicated emotions surrounding “the one that got away” 1— the person who may no longer be part of your life but remains impossible to forget.

The new single comes as Lawrence continues to make headlines over his reconciliation with Halili, with whom he shares 13-year-old daughter Katie.
In April, the pair confirmed that they were both single, saying they had not romantically reconciled. However, two months later, Lawrence confirmed that he was officially courting Halili again, years after they had ended their relationship.
While Lawrence has not directly identified the ex who inspired the song, listeners widely interpreted its lyrics for themselves and linked it to Halili.

Asked about his renewed closeness with the actress, Lawrence remains optimistic about what the future may hold.
“I feel so grateful that we’re being received so positively by netizens. It makes us feel like what we’re doing is headed in the right direction. Where it leads, we don’t know, but we’re kinda just going with the flow,” he said.

Lawrence noted that their priority as parents is to create a healthy and peaceful environment for their daughter.
“I think Katie is genuinely happy. You can see it in the way she smiles, the way she laughs and the sense of security she carries,” he said.
“One thing I’ve learned is that children thrive when the people they love choose peace over pride. Katrina and I have worked hard to create that kind of environment for her, and we’ve seen beautiful progress,” added the singer.
“Unlove You” marks another creative collaboration between Lawrence and Lil Eddie, who previously worked together on the Filipino singer’s 2025 single “Nobody,” inspired by his daughter.
Lawrence described Lil Eddie as one of the best songwriters he has worked with.
“Lil Eddie penned the song. He’s probably the best writer I’ve ever worked with. He’s a multi- Grammy-award winning writer, so it’s definitely an honor working with him,” he said.
Lawrence also shared that Lil Eddie wrote the song in just two hours, while the entire track was completed within two days.
“Eddie wrote the song in two hours. From idea to finished product, it took two days. My producer in the States, Chokobeats, and I did the beat. We built the track around the guitar lick you hear at the start,” he recalled.
Recorded in the United States in August 2025, “Unlove You” features a hypnotic guitar intro and ambient groove. Session players John Apura from Manila and Vidas Venganza from Los Angeles also contributed to the track.
The official music video, shot in Los Angeles in September 2025, features Lil Eddie and model Chey. The song is part of Lawrence’s continuing journey as an independent artist.
“I’m doing whatever I can to promote it as an independent artist. Radio and TV guestings, social media content, and write-ups,” he said.
