Barcelona Vs Real Madrid: Spanish Giants Set For Explosive El Clasico Showdown

Translate

Real Madrid are set to make a trip to Barcelona for a hugely anticipated El Clasico at the Camp Nou on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

Table of Contents

Barcelona look to win and make it nine points between them and Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the 2026/27 season.

Teams’ Form And Recent Performances

Barcelona

Barca have been nothing but excellent since the start of the season having won all their matches until a few days ago when that perfect start hit a snag. Hansi Flick’s side’s 11-match winning run came to an end following a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

Luis Enrique’s side welcomed Barcelona to the Parc des Princes where Desire Doue opened the scoring for the French champions in the first half. Barcelona restored parity ten minutes into the second half through Xavi Espart, who was making his first ever start in the competition.

PSG regained the lead via Lucas Hernandez’s header from Doue’s cross which only lasted seven minutes as Lamine Yamal drew the Blaugrana back into the contest.

However, PSG grew stronger as the game went on and their pressure finally paid off with Vitinha scoring in the 81st minute before Fabian Ruiz added a fourth, four minutes before the end of the regulation time.

Barcelona will be looking to return to winning ways and maintain their lead at the top of La Liga standings when they welcome Real Madrid this Sunday. The defending champions are six points clear of their arch-rivals going into the Clasico where they will hope to create a nine-point gap after the final whistle.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid have had quite a good start to the season having lost just twice in 12 games so far.

Los Blancos’ first defeat of the campaign came in a 1-0 loss to Real Betis following victories in their first three matches of the campaign. Madrid posted another three successive victories before falling short 2-1 against their city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Jose Mourinho’s side have since won a further four games on the spin which included a 4-1 win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Bernardo Silva, Arda Guler, Kylian Mbappe and record signing Yan Diomande were all on the scoresheet in Real Madrid’s statement victory ahead of El Clasico.

The 15-time European champions will now go into the Clasico with some sort of confidence as they hope to defeat Barca for just the second time in the last eight encounters which will see the six-point gap between them reduced by half.

Head-to-Head Statistics

Barcelona have clashed with Real Madrid 264 times with the Blaugrana recording wins on 106 occasions, while Los Blancos are one victory ahead with 107 wins and 51 matches ended with both teams sharing the spoils.

Recent Clasicos have seen Barcelona dominate proceedings having won six of the last seven matches against Real Madrid.

The Catalan giants won the last meeting 2-0; Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres’ first half strikes sealed victory which subsequently crowned Barca their 29th league title.

Players To Watch Out For

Barcelona

Lamine Yamal

Yamal is arguably Barcelona’s best player since breaking into the first team three years ago at the age of 15. The 19 year-old has already recorded 20 goal contributions (10 goals and 10 assists) across all competitions this season.

Real Madrid will be wary of the Spain international, who is known for his technical dribbling, vision, and creativity on the right flank.

Raphinha

Raphinha is one of the club’s standouts having scored 14 goals, including back-to-back hat-tricks while also providing three assists before the first international break of the season.

The Brazil international is an explosive and versatile left-footed attacker, who operates as an inverted left winger and currently deployed as central false-nine by Flick. His technical ability to beat defenders will be a major concern for Madrid, who have kept just two clean sheets across all competitions.

Raphinha enjoys playing this fixture having scored seven goals and provided three assists against Real Madrid. Only against Sevilla (nine) has the 29-year-old netted more in his career.

Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe continues to be Real Madrid’s main talismanic forward having scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 12 games.

The 27-year-old plays as an explosive, versatile forward and is known for his blistering pace, elite dribbling, and clinical finishing.

Mbappe has an impressive record against Barcelona having plundered 12 goals in 10 games. Only three teams (Montpellier 15, Lyon 13 and Monaco 13) has the France international scored more goals against than the Blaugrana.

Yan Diomande

Diomande is currently in terrific form for Real Madrid having scored three goals and provided as many assists in the last five matches across all competitions.

The 19-year-old, who is known for his directness, electric pace, and two-footed dribbling is rapidly morphing into a menace against oppositions’ defence.

His pace could prove crucial for Los Blancos as they look to exploit Barca’s high-defensive line.

Team News

Barcelona

Barcelona have a number of players currently on the treatment table as they will be missing Dani Olmo (adductor), Roony Bardghji (knee), Andreas Christensen (thigh), and Eric Garcia (thigh) for El Clasico.

Jules Kounde is also battling with an ankle injury; at this point, the France international is unlikely to feature.

This means both Joao Cancelo and Xavi Espart are expected to start in the full back areas, with Rodri and Fermin Lopez expected to return after the PSG game.

Yamal and Raphinha are guaranteed starters in the attack, while Anthony Gordon is expected to hold his spot on the left.

Real Madrid

Rodrygo (knee), Ferland Mendy (hip), and Raul Asencio (leg) will be missing for Real Madrid at Camp Nou due to injuries, while Vinicius Junior is suspended.

Mourinho will have to make tough choices in midfield, with Federico Valverde possibly playing right back. As a result, Bernardo Silva’s performance against RB Leipzig could earn him a place in the starting lineup.

Arda Guler and Yan Diomande are expected to play through the wings for Los Blancos, with Jude Bellingham as the number 10 behind centre-forward Mbappe.

Possible Starting Line-Ups

Barcelona (4-2-3-1):

Real Madrid (4-2-3-1):
