Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Migrant Workers Protection Christina Aryani said Indonesia aims to place 500,000 migrant workers by 2029 through its SMK Go Global vocational program.

The program is designed to connect vocational school graduates with overseas jobs by aligning their training and skills with industry needs and available positions.

Aryani said the program follows President Prabowo Subianto's directive to prepare 500,000 workers, including 300,000 vocational school graduates and 200,000 members of the general public.

The program targets placing 40,000 workers abroad in 2026, followed by 140,000 in 2027, 180,000 in 2028 and 140,000 in 2029.

Priority sectors include nursing, caregiving, welding, bus and truck driving, hospitality and other industries identified as requiring overseas workers.

Target destinations include Japan, South Korea, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, European countries, Turkiye and Taiwan, Aryani said.

About 289,000 overseas vacancies are available through official channels in 2026, covering various sectors that candidates can match with their skills and experience.

Aryani encouraged Indonesians seeking overseas employment to use SISKOP2MI, the government's computerized system for migrant worker services and protection.

She said creating an account on SISKOP2MI provides the simplest way to check available overseas vacancies and identify opportunities suited to applicants.

SISKOP2MI also supports the broader migrant worker placement and protection process, beyond providing information on overseas job vacancies.

Users can register, participate in recruitment and selection processes, and monitor their application status through the integrated system.
