Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver remain some of the very best, if not the very best, Pokémon games of all time. Their stunning pixel art, expansive ambitions, and incredible roster of the titular creatures make them thoroughly engrossing experiences from start to finish. It is a shame, then, that these legendary titles are locked to the Nintendo Switch, The Pokémon Company evidently having elected to relegate them to an antiquated console unlike its contemporaries that have either gotten remakes or, at the very least, ports.

Alas, with SoulSilver and HeartGold trapped forever, one is left either emulating them or paying hundreds of dollars on the second-hand market, neither of which is appealing, especially for casual fans. To ease the blow just a tad, The Pokémon Company is bringing back HeartGold and SoulSilver to a degree with a brand-new collection that is sure to appease the most dedicated of fans. While those simply looking for an opportunity to play the games on modern hardware may be a little disappointed, those with a great reverence for the incredible DS titles are sure to enjoy this new release.

While we all collectively await a potential HeartGold and SoulSilver Switch port, fans can look forward to the aforementioned upcoming collector's release that recreates the original DS game in a whole new form. Launching via the official Pokémon Center website is a brand-new set of pins based on the design of the DS box for both Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Sure, it isn't quite as exciting as a remake or re-release, but these pins are a delightful trinket for collectors looking to enhance their plethora of HeartGold and SoulSilver merchandise.

There are two pins in the set that come together in a single purchase, one of which is the original Japanese box art for HeartGold and the other the original Japanese box art for SoulSilver. They both come with a unique, glossy, sparkling finish to help them stand out, and a custom box with the release date of the DS titles printed on the side. Each pin has a pin clutch on the back, which is black and shaped to resemble a Poké Ball.

This brand-new HeartGold and SoulSilver release is just one in a line of Pokémon game-themed pins. The other sets available cover the remaining titles, running from the original Red and Blue all the way to the Nintendo Switch era. Some sets have more pins than others (if there were more games during that release year, then it gets more pins), and they all come with the same glossy finish and Poké Ball-themed clutch. So, if you really love all things Pokémon, then you can absolutely collect them all.

The Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver pins are available for pre-order via the official Pokémon Center website. Currently, the product is out of stock, but the store page listing states that more are on their way, and pre-orders will reopen soon. The product itself is scheduled to ship in February 2027, so fans won't have long to wait until they can get their hands on it. As much as we'd all collectively like to see Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver ported away from the DS, for now, these pins will have to do.
