Rumah Indonesia helps overcome technical issues at Asian Games: CdM

Nagoya, Japan (ANTARA) - Rumah Indonesia (House of Indonesia) in Nagoya has benefited Indonesian athletes and officials during the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, Indonesian contingent Chef de Mission (CdM) Todotua Pasaribu said.

"We designed and prepared Rumah Indonesia as a gathering place. It has a command center. Given the current situation in Nagoya, we have designated one floor as a rest area," Pasaribu said here Saturday.

The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games have faced criticism from participants from several countries over technical issues.

Several national contingents complained of inadequate food portions and accommodation shortages, forcing some athletes and officials to stay in unsuitable locations.

However, the problems did not affect Indonesia's contingent, known as the Red and White Contingent, as Rumah Indonesia provided additional accommodation for those affected.

"Because of the accommodation chaos, some of our athletes and officials were affected. While we helped resolve their hotel accommodation issues, we housed them here. Rumah Indonesia has functioned well," Pasaribu said.

Rumah Indonesia is a multifunctional facility prepared to support Indonesian athletes' participation in the Asian Games, which run from September 19 to October 5.

The facility serves as both accommodation and a coordination center for the Indonesian contingent.

Rumah Indonesia in Nagoya was inaugurated Saturday by Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir, Chef de Mission Todotua Pasaribu, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir and National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari.

The facility is located in Nagoya's Sakaemachi district and is intended to provide accommodation, coordination and other support for Indonesian athletes and officials throughout the Games.
