Emraan Hashmi’s Musical Horror Film ‘Rooh’ Adds Tips Films and Tips Music (EXCLUSIVE)

Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi’s musical horror film “Rooh” has added Tips Films and Tips Music to its producing team, with Kumar Taurani boarding the project ahead of a 2027 theatrical release across the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets.

Mayank Sharma directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Vishal Kapoor. Tips Films presents the film, which is a Vicked Films production. Taurani, Girissh Kumar, Vikram Khakhar and Sunny Khanna produce, with Vikas Sahni as co-producer. The soundtrack will be released on Tips Music.

“Rooh” mixes horror with romance and builds its songs into the plot. Hashmi has led Hindi-language horror films including “Raaz: The Mystery Continues,” “Raaz 3: The Third Dimension” and “Ek Thi Daayan,” and songs from his movies have often outgrown the films they came from.

Earlier this year, Hashmi played a customs officer in “Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web,” Neeraj Pandey’s crime series for Netflix, which premiered Jan. 14 in Hindi, with dubbed Tamil, Telugu and English versions. The show topped Netflix’s global non-English TV chart for the week of Jan. 12–18.

The Tips deal reunites the actor with Taurani. Taurani said the association held special meaning because Tips had produced Hashmi’s first film, “Footpath.”

“Over the years we have had many memorable successes across several films and with ‘Rooh’ we are excited to recreate that magic once again,” Taurani said. “I am also excited to collaborate with Sunny Khanna and Vikram Khakhar on this project and we look forward to bringing the compelling experience of a theatrical film back to the audiences.”

Hashmi said working with Taurani on the film felt serendipitous.

“Music has always been an integral part of how audiences connect with my films. With ‘Rooh,’ we want music that captures the soul of the film, which is deeply romantic, haunting and rooted by emotion,” he said.

Khakhar, of Vicked Films Productions, described “Rooh” as a very special project for his company and called the arrival of Tips Films and Tips Music a major step.

“We are collectively excited to bring an immersive and memorable horror experience to audiences in theaters in 2027,” he said.

Khanna said he was delighted to have Taurani and Kumar on board, saying their track record in both film and music made the partnership particularly exciting for a project in which music plays a central role.

“With this partnership, we look forward to taking ‘Rooh’ to audiences across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets,” Khanna said.
