Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - President Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Heru Widodo announced that 14 ferry ports are fully waiving port service fees as part of the government's Christmas 2026 and New Year 2027 stimulus to lower travel costs.

"This program applies to pedestrian passengers and Class II and Class IVA vehicles at 14 ports serving ASDP's seven operational ferry routes, both regular and express," Widodo said in a statement on Saturday.

The seven routes with 14 ports include Merak (Banten) - Bakauheni (Lampung); Ketapang (Banyuwangi, East Java) - Gilimanuk (Jembrana, Bali); Padangbai (Karangasem, Bali) - Lembar (West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara).

Followed by Tanjung Uban (Bintan, Riau Islands) - Telaga Punggur (Batam, Riau Islands); Ajibata (Toba, North Sumatra) - Ambarita (Samosir, North Sumatra); Kayangan (East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara) - Pototano (West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara); and Sape (Bima, West Nusa Tenggara) - Labuan Bajo (West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara).

"This stimulus program is projected to benefit 188,909 pedestrian passengers and 467,118 vehicles," Widodo continued.

He expressed hope that the policy would benefit the people who depend on ferry services for transportation during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"Travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays is an important opportunity for people to reunite with their families and visit various destinations across Indonesia," he said.

To facilitate public mobility during the holiday period, the government is therefore providing economic stimulus through discounted transportation fares, including ferry services.

"The policy aims to make ferry travel more affordable while offering greater value to people traveling between islands," Widodo stated.

He added that the company's participation in the stimulus program reflects its collaboration with the government to improve public access to affordable transportation, particularly during the year-end holiday season.

"We hope this policy will reduce travel costs and give people greater flexibility in planning family trips during the year-end holidays," Widodo noted.

The program's implementation refers to Joint Decrees (SKB) Number PJ-MHB 7 of 2026, Number 145 of 2026, and Number 298 of 2026 concerning the Provision of Transportation Fare Discounts for Economic Stimulus for the 2026 School Holiday Period, Christmas 2026, and New Year 2027.

Ticket sales with the stimulus program will begin on November 7, 2026, for departures from December 22, 2026, to January 10, 2027.
