Celebrity Traitors' Rob Beckett thinks he "could be the fastest Traitor out in history"

The Celebrity Traitors star Rob Beckett has mused that he could be "the fastest Traitor out in history". The comedian is among the cast of the new season of the BBC reality series, which is due to launch this week.

While the identities of the new Traitors and Faithfuls remain under wraps until its debut, Rob has joked that if he were selected to be deceptive, he wouldn't last long.

"I think I'll be good at deflecting with humour naturally because that's what I've been trained to do," he said. "My problem is you know what I'm thinking by looking at my face. So, I think I'm in trouble because I tell everyone everything with my expressions alone… and then I am very chatty.

"If I have a big secret of being a Traitor, then I may just give it up straight away. I could be the fastest Traitor out in history. I'll probably just get a tap of the shoulder and get up and go: 'You’ll never guess what just happened to me!' and off I go which actually could be a great moment."

Rob then stressed that he "wouldn't do that", and suggested his tendency to be "very chatty and talk all the time" could actually be "helpful because it's constant information to people".

Asked to pick a side, Rob admitted he'd "happily be either" – though has "no qualms about killing people off".

Meanwhile, fellow Celebrity Traitors contestant and long-time friend Romesh Ranganathan has opened up about working with Rob on the series, admitting that he won't be able to "trust" his buddy in the castle.

"I mean, he's just as easily going to be on my side as he is going to twist the knife in my back given the opportunity," he suggested. "I mean, it's completely unpredictable."

Comparing it to their series Rob & Romesh Vs… where they usually have each others' backs, Romesh added: "This time, he can't be trusted. It can't be the end of the relationship because it's financially beneficial. But I think if it wasn't financially beneficial, then it could be the end of the friendship."

Fans can also expect a particularly hilarious moment from the pair that had host Claudia Winkleman hiding "in a bush".

The Celebrity Traitors debuts Thursday 1 October at 8pm BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
