Cape Cod and the Islands boys golf teams battle for postseason lives
Izzadora Almeida continues to be a goal-scoring machine for Mashpee High girls soccer.
Almeida scored a brace in a win over Monomoy two days ago and doubled that performance on Monday as she recorded all four goals in a 4-2 victory over Carver.

Mashpee (5-6-0) has won three straight outings and climbed within a game of holding a .500 record. The Falcons would need to maintain that or improve on their 35th position in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 4 power rankings.

Girls Soccer
Cape Tech 4, Upper Cape 0: The Crusaders (2-6-1) have notched back-to-back wins for the first time this season at the expense of the winless Rams (0-7-1).
West Bridgewater 6, Bourne 1: The Canalmen (0-7-0) scored for the first time after being shut out in four straight outings.
Boys Soccer
West Bridgewater 4, Bourne 0: Carter Gettings made 14 saves in between the sticks for the Canalmen (2-6-1). Gus Souza also had a strong performance in the midfield.

Carver 3, Mashpee 1: The Falcons (1-9-1) fell to a third defeat in a row and second by two goals or less.
Cape Tech 6.5, South Shore Tech 2.5: Carter LaFrance guided the Crusaders (8-1-1) to a Mayflower Athletic Conference win as he shot a medalist score of two-over 37 while also securing a point in his match. Daniel Gibbons (38) and Chris Morin (40) each won their match, while Mike Shea (41) tied his.
Barnstable 243, Monomoy 255: Charlie Campbell pulled the Redhawks (5-6) within a game of a .500 record as he shot an even-par 35 at Eastward Ho! Country Club. Levi McNally and Logan Anderson each posted five-over 40s, while Teegan Hayden recorded a six-over 41. Chase King (43) and Gavin McGinn (44) both factored into the team score.

Hank Brown carded a two-over 37 to lead the Sharks (6-6). Cam Reeves posted a four-over 39. Carter O'Leary (40), Brodie LaValley (43), Tommy Carey (45) and Ethan Carey (51) were all counting scores.
Nauset 245, Nantucket 259: The Warriors (8-3) halted a two-match slide as they beat the Whalers (8-4) at Nantucket Golf Club. Oliver Smith earned medalist honors with a three-under 33. Hudson Cole posted a three-over 39 and Mac Heinz turned in a solid five-over 41 on a difficult golf course that provided heavy winds.
St. John Paul II 8, Upper Cape 1: Using the antiquated nine-point match play system that was the norm for schools 40 years ago, the Lions (6-7) rolled to a win at Sandwich Hollows Golf Course.
Griffin Mayo paced the entire field posting a wind-blown three-under 33 to capture medalist honors. Brian Skelly chipped in with a two-over 38. Liam Whalen and Max Hyde each shot 41s. James Mullen carded a 44 and Quinn MacAleese turned in a 45 for the Lions.

Evan Barrasso led the Rams (0-11) with a two-over 38, while John Roux added a four-over 40. Jameson Ellis recorded a solid 43.
Duxbury 255, Sandwich 270: Blaise Chatigny continued his medalist form as he finished in a tie with Duxbury's Jake McGoldrick to earn co-honors with a two-over 38 at Sandwich Hollows Golf Club. The loss ended a nine-match win streak that was held by the Blue Knights (12-2).
Sam Konary (44), Cam Howell (45), Bradley Moesman (46), Anderson Lauf (48) and Owen Labelle (49) all produced counting scores.
Martha's Vineyard 248, Cape Cod Academy 327: Jacoby Light earned medalist honors with a three-over 38. Guston Martone shot a five-over 40, while Ben Kokoszka and Jake Gatchell each posted 42s. Shane Harding and London Arch carded 43s to count towards the team total for the Vineyarders (6-2).

Olivia Jatczak led the Seahawks (1-8) with a 47.
Rising Tide 238, Sturgis East 240: The Storm (2-8) have dropped three straight outings.
Girls Volleyball
Sandwich 3, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Blue Knights (8-2) extended their win streak out to five.
Shauna Baker and Giulianna DeSouza had seven kills each. Aaylah Gomes had 20 receptions and seven digs, while Sophia Papa had 21 receptions and 12 digs. Alyssa Magee had 21 assists for the Dolphins (3-7).
Barnstable 3, Brockton 0: Maddy Campbell led the way with 25 assists and two blocks for the Redhawks (9-2). Ava Johnston contributed 12 kills and three blocks. Balla Magalhaes, Amalia Thompson and Ava Britton each had five kills, while Emelie Jonsson chipped in four kills. Alayna Rodriguez had seven digs to lead the defense. Molly Colantuono had four aces.

West Bridgewater 3, Bourne 0: The Canalmen (1-10) fell to a ninth defeat in a row as they were beaten 21-25, 16-25, 9-25. Brenna Timo was great with 19 digs. Becca Barboza and Ari McCarthy added eight digs each. Camryn Seitz added seven digs and three aces.
St. John Paul II 3, Falmouth 0: The undefeated Lions (10-0) raced past the Clippers (1-9) behind Zlata Alishka, who tallied 23 assists, six digs, three aces and two kills. Caitlin McGrail had six kills, five digs and two aces. Lola Our led with 12 kills, five digs and two aces. Eva Matthes pitched in 12 digs and three aces. Jenisha Rai had six digs.
Ellie Wills recorded a season-high five blocks to go with three kills, while Kineligh Mohan packed the stat line with 11 assists, five digs and two blocks for Falmouth. Adele Heintz had a team-high seven digs and chipped in three kills. Fia Inman had three kills. Ellie Bennett had three aces, and Sadie Oliveira had two aces.
Nauset 3, Sturgis West 0: The Warriors (2-7) powered past the Navigators (1-7) in straight sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-10). Violet Yingling had 14 assists and seven kills. Sophia Quinton had six kills.

Field Hockey
Monomoy 5, Martha's Vineyard 0: The Sharks (6-2-0) broke open the game after a scoreless first half with the first goal coming late in the third quarter. Gracen Burrill had four goals, while Kate Huse had a goal and an assist. Mia Zimmerman tallied two assists and Emery Cappallo had one assist. Maddy Swett recorded a two-save shutout and is currently nine away from 300.
EB Carestia made 10 saves for the Vineyarders (3-5-1).
Sandwich 7, Barnstable 0: The undefeated Blue Knights (9-0-0) kept their foot on the gas against the Redhawks (4-5-2) behind Elisabeth Stutzman, Rae Senno and Riley McQuade, who all recorded two goals and an assist. Maddie Ramsey scored once.

Redhawks goalie Izzy Hill was the standout player for her team with 24 saves. Kera Clifford, Avery Croteau and Lulu Tendler all played well and helped prevent any scoring on the penalty corners.
Carver 4, Mashpee/Wareham/Bourne 0: The Falcons (2-5-1) couldn't find their game against a fast-moving Carver squad. Kalley Assad, Sophia Hathon and Mya Stewart played very well on the left side as they worked the ball down into the circle. Dierdre Tokla and Emily Legacy had strong defensive games.
Falmouth 5, Nantucket 4: The Clippers (5-4-0) earned a dramatic and thrilling victory over the Whalers (1-6-2).
St. John Paul II 3, Westport 1: The Lions (3-3-2) extended their unbeaten streak out to five games.

Sunday
Boys Golf
Vineyard Cup at Vineyard Golf Club: Nauset captured the team title with a score of four-over 220, while Barnstable placed second at 14-over 230 and Sandwich came third at 18-over 234. Monomoy finished fourth at 20-over 236, which was three strokes ahead of Falmouth at 23-over 239. The hosts Martha's Vineyard were sixth at 26-over 242. St. John Paul II posted a 27-over 243 and finished seventh. Dennis-Yarmouth (247) and Sturgis East (326) came ninth and 11th, respectively, in the 11-team field.
Oliver Smith was just one of two players in the 44-man field to break par as he shot a two-under 70 to lead the Warriors and place second in the individual standings. Mac Heinz, who finished in third, carded a two-over 74 and Hudson Cole posted a four-over 76 to add to the three counting scores.

Sandwich's Blaise Chatigny earned individual medalist honors with a tournament record four-under 68. Griffin Mayo (St. John Paul II), Jacoby Light (Martha's Vineyard), Bradley Moesman (Sandwich) and Monomoy duo Cam Reeves and Hank Brown tied for fourth with a three-over 75.
