After Cong CMs give Brics dinner a miss, BJP calls decision 'partisan'

New Delhi: BJP Tuesday accused Congress of keeping its partisan interests above national interests, slamming the opposition party for the absence of its three chief ministers at the Brics gala dinner.

"Political and ideological differences are always there but there should no difference when it comes to national interest," BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj said.Three Congress CMs - DK Shivakumar of Karnataka, Revanth Reddy of Telangana and VD Satheesan of Kerala - were among the opposition chief ministers, including C Joseph Vijay of Tamil Nadu, who were invited for the dinner but none of them turned up. Vijay, though, was abroad.

"It is saddening that the three Congress CMs did not prioritise national interest and kept their party politics above it," Swaraj said.She said Reddy had initially accepted the invitation but later opted out due to 'political compulsions'. "I want to ask Congress if you have started opposing Ma Bharati while opposing PM Narendra Modi?" she said.Swaraj further added that Brics was neither a BJP platform nor a political one, but that of India.
