Former snooker champion Graeme Dott on trial over child sexual abuse allegations

Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott is on trial, accused of child sexual abuse.

The 49-year-old, from Glasgow, is accused of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour towards two primary school-aged children – a girl and a boy.

The allegations relating to the girl span the years 1993-1996, while the allegations involving the boy span from 2006-2010.

Dott has pleaded not guilty to the two charges against him.

His trial at the High Court in Glasgow began on Tuesday.

The jury heard evidence from one of Dott’s alleged victims, a woman who is now in her 40s.

Speaking from behind a screen, she said that Dott sexually abused her on multiple separate occasions when she was a child.

Once, he indecently touched her after offering to give her a piggy back, she said.

Another time, he approached her and said “we could play a game” before exposing himself to her, kissing her, and touching her with different parts of his body, she said.

Dott was present in court, dressed in a dark suit.

The trial, before judge Lord Harrower, continues. It is expected to last up to five days.
