Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd pulled over by police for unexpected reason

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has shared an unusual encounter he had with the police. The actor, who plays David Platt, was pulled over while driving home recently - but the reason may surprise you.

Speaking on his podcast On The Sofa, Shepherd recalled the story to his co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith. He set the scene for his fellow hosts, telling them that he was stuck in traffic at around 7pm.

"We're in traffic, no one's going anywhere. All of a sudden, blue lights," he said.

The actor confirmed that the police car was "just trying to get to an emergency" and needed "the Nile to part" so they could get past. But while passing through, the officer recognised Shepherd and had a bone to pick.

"He goes past me, all of a sudden he brakes. And then his reverse lights come on. He's still got the blue lights on and he reverses back and he goes like that," Shepherd said, demonstrating the signal. "It's the universal signal for window down."

When the star heeded the instruction, the officer shared his gripe, recalling their previous encounter.

"He went, 'you spoke about me pulling over on your podcast', and then he said, 'and you said that I realised you were really famous and I let you off because you were famous.'"

Shepherd denied the officer's claims and pointed out that the latter was laughing while talking to him.

"And he's going, 'I've got beef with David Platt,'" he continued. "Bearing in mind he's on his way to a ****ing emergency and still telling me this!"

Price added: "And bearing in mind he's kind of tried to pretend you're not famous and then gone, 'David Platt'."

Shepherd shared that everyone in nearby cars had witnessed the "surreal" incident, and was looking at him like he was in trouble with the law. After the officer drove off, the actor decided he was going to "listen back" to the podcast episode to find out the truth.

"I never say, 'because I'm famous he lets me off', but Ben kinda hints at the fact, in a joking way," he concluded.
