U20WWC: Nigeria pick first point after goalless draw with China

Nigeria’s Falconets kept their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign alive after playing out a 0-0 draw with China PR at Arena Sosnowiec in Poland.

The goalless draw gave Nigeria their first point in Group F after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Spain in their opening game.

The Falconets created opportunities to break the deadlock but were unable to find the decisive goal against a China side that began the tournament with a convincing 5-0 victory over New Caledonia.

The result moved China to four points and into second place in the group.

Spain remain top with six points and have already secured qualification for the Round of 16.

The Spaniards followed their opening win over Nigeria with another emphatic victory, thrashing New Caledonia 11-0.

Nigeria must now beat New Caledonia in their final group game on Sunday, September 13, to strengthen their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
