‘Iron Boy,’ ‘Tangles’ and ‘The Violinist’ Among Animation Is Film’s 2026 Festival Line-Up

Leah Nelson’s “Tangles,” Louis Clichy’s “Iron Boy” and Ervin Han and Raúl García’s “The Violinist” are among the titles set to screen during Animation Is Film’s ninth edition. The festival will take place October 16 through 19, with the main programming taking place at TCL Chinese 6 Theaters in Hollywood, Calif.

For the first time in AIF history, the festival will commence with the world-first theatrical premiere of the first two episodes of Dana Terrace’s “Knights of Guinevere.”

“We’re thrilled to kick off another lively, animated weekend of the year’s very best with a special theatrical presentation of Dana Terrace’s Knights of Guinevere,” said Animation Is Film’s Director Matt Kaszanek. “Dana is the artist behind one of the most beloved animated series of this decade. So naturally, it is with otherworldly excitement that we embrace her return to showrunning with a big-screen presentation of this visionary series.”

In addition to the aforementioned titles, AIF’s lineup will include Masanao Kawajiri’s “Cherry and Virgin,” Shingo Natsume’s “Ghost – End of Night,” Nicolas Athané and Marco Nguyen’s “Jim Queen,” Sébastien Laudenbach’s “Viva Carmen!” and Louise Bagnall’s “Julián.” Also in competition is “O filho da Puta (Son of a Bitch)” from Otto Guerra, Érica Maradona, Tânia Anaya and Sávio Leite.

In addition to a number of screenings, the festival’s lineup also includes studio presentations, retrospective screenings,filmmaker talks and works-in-progress. Audiences can expect a behind-the-scenes look at Walt Disney Animation’s upcoming “Hexed” as well as a theatrical presentation of Paramount’s “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, Yoshiaki “Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust” and a look at Matt Braly’s “Clara and the Below.”
