A woman has been arrested over a two-car crash in which an 11-year-old girl was killed in Adelaide's south last month.

South Australia Police said the woman was driving a Nissan sedan in which the girl was a passenger when it was in collision with a Subaru station wagon at Moana on September 22.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Commercial Road about 6:45pm.

The 35-year-old Christie Downs woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition, but the girl died at the scene.

The 37-year-old Seaford Meadows man who was driving the Subaru was also taken to hospital with minor injuries and was later discharged, police said.

Police said the driver of the Nissan was arrested today and was charged with aggravated causing death by dangerous driving and aggravated causing harm by dangerous driving.

The woman, who has lost her licence, was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court in November.

Police said major crash investigators were continuing to examine the circumstances of the crash.
