Suriya's ‘Scene’ was first planned with Fahadh Faasil

'I discussed the story with Fafa, and he liked it'_ Jithu Madhavan reveals Suriya's ‘Scene’.

Suriya’s most-awaited upcoming crime thriller film ‘Scene’ was initially planned as a Malayalam project starring Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim, director Jithu Madhavan has revealed.The 'Aavesham' director said he had discussed the story with Fahadh Faasil, who liked the idea. However, the project eventually took a different direction, with Suriya stepping in as the lead actor. In an chat with Galatta Plus, Jithu Madhavan explained how the film’s casting changed during its early development.

‘Scene’ was initially planned with Fahadh Faasil

Jithu Madhavan revealed that he had considered Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim for the lead roles when he first developed the project.

The proposed pairing would have brought the couple together on screen. According to the director, Fahadh responded positively when he heard the story.“Normally, my films will have roots in Malayalam, but Scene doesn't. Fahadh Faasil and I discuss a lot of things. I discussed the Scene story with Fafa, and he liked it. I was planning to make the movie with Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya, and the first discussions were happening.

Fafa also liked the story.”

Why Jithu Madhavan chose Suriya

The director said he later informed Fahadh Faasil that he wanted to develop the story for Suriya instead. He subsequently narrated the script to the Tamil actor, who agreed to be part of the project.“However, I later told Fahadh that I was writing this one for Suriya sir instead and that we should see how it works. Then, I went and narrated the story to Suriya sir. I only had this story for him, and he liked it.”

Suriya now leads the film, with Nazriya Nazim and Naslen also playing key roles.

Naslen’s role as the antagonist

Jithu Madhavan also explained why he selected Naslen for the antagonist’s part. He wanted an actor who could appear innocent while performing disturbing actions within the story. The director believed that casting a fresh face would help create this contrast.

‘Scene’ prepares for Diwali release

‘Scene’ is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on November 6, 2026, coinciding with Diwali. Advance ticket sales have reportedly opened in Australia, while bookings in other international markets are expected to begin in the coming days.
