Euromatch NPFL: Super Eagles Goalkeeper Obasogie Named Bendel Insurance Captain

Bendel Insurance have appointed Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie as the club’s new captain, Completesports.com reports.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper will lead the Benin Arsenals, with experienced striker Kayode Oke named as his deputy.

Obasogie recently returned to Bendel Insurance for a second spell after spending time away from the club.

He previously featured for Tanzanian Premier League Singida Black Stars.

The goalkeeper enjoyed an impressive first spell with the Benin-based club, making 33 league appearances during the 2023/24 season.

His consistent performances and leadership qualities earned him recognition at the national level, culminating in his involvement with the Super Eagles.

His experience, understanding of the club and exposure at both domestic and international levels are expected to provide valuable leadership for Kennedy Boboye’s side, particularly as they seek greater consistency throughout the campaign.

Oke, who has established himself as a reliable attacking option for the Benin Arsenals, will support Obasogie as vice-captain and play a key role in the team’s leadership group.

Bendel Insurance, former President Federation Cup champions, have made a mixed start to the 2026/27 NPFL season, picking up one victory and suffering one defeat from their opening two matches.
