Shell yeah! Lion cubs take on the toughest toy in town

Two lion cubs were seen toying with a tortoise in the Kalahari, Botswana - in what many would not consider to be a fair fight.

The playful young lions were spotted pawing at - and even trying to take a nibble at - the reptile, who could be seen shrinking back into his shell as the cubs skidded around him.

The humorous moment was captured by photographer Jens Cullmann, who said the remarkable encounter lasted mere minutes before the cubs grew bored.

Up ahead, the adult lions had moved on and the cubs soon chased after them to catch up.

At one point, the cub even tried to take a nibble at the tortoise

Meanwhile, the unharmed tortoise made for a quick escape, likely thankful to not have become a snack for some curious cubs.

Mr Cullmann frequently photographs 'animals in action' and once drove his car from Germany to South Africa, documenting the wildlife en route.
