Dieng Coffee Festival generates Rp15 billion in transactions

Banjarnegara (ANTARA) - The Dieng Coffee Festival, held from Aug. 28 to 30 as part of the 16th Dieng Culture Festival (DCF) in Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, recorded approximately Rp15 billion in transactions, equivalent to around US$846,000.

Tursiman, head of the Banjarnegara Tourism and Culture Office, said in Dieng Kulon Village on Sunday that the figure illustrated the festival's immense potential to boost the local economy.

"This number is remarkable, and it is derived solely from the Coffee Festival," he said, adding that total transaction data from other DCF events had yet to be calculated.

Tursiman pointed out that the Dieng Coffee Festival showcased coffees produced by 14 local growers facilitated by the Law Ministry's Directorate General of Intellectual Property, alongside 35 local products originating from several sub-districts across Banjarnegara.

He noted that the substantial transaction value demonstrates coffee's role as a high-value commodity capable of driving local economic growth.

The official emphasized that Banjarnegara would fully commit to maximizing its coffee sector to advance the region's economy, expressing hope that the festival would continue to increase the commodity’s market value.

He added that the Banjarnegara Regency administration, in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, will calculate total transactions across all events at the 2026 DCF.

Earlier, Dieng Coffee Festival Organizing Committee Chairman Alif Zain Fahmi noted that the event was held in partnership with Bank Indonesia, thanking the central bank for its ongoing support of the region's coffee industry.

"Bank Indonesia has been supporting coffee development in Banjarnegara through various initiatives intended to advance the industry from upstream to downstream sectors," Fahmi said during the festival opening on Aug. 28.

In addition to the Dieng Coffee Festival, the 16th DCF featured various cultural, tourism, and creative economy events designed to stimulate local business.
