Why Sanguinet Isn’t In Shoresy Season 4

Summer in Sudbury looks a bit different from when the boys were in the middle of hockey season, with Shoresy season 4 missing some key characters like Sanguinet from the plot.

The cast of characters in Shoresy features a fantastic ensemble of actors and real-life hockey players alike to form the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, with each season seeing the team have remarkable personal growth off and on the ice.

The optimistic character building is among the strongest aspects of Jared Keeso’s Letterkenny spinoff, making the absence of any key figures more noticeable in the group dynamics. After serving as a main character in the first three seasons of the show, Harlan Kytwayhat’s “Sanger” Sanguinet is missing entirely from Shoresy season 4.

Sanguinet has been established as Shoresy’s closest friend in Sudbury and a guiding, level-headed figure for the Bulldogs as their coach, so it’s hard to ignore his absence. Though Shoresy season 3’s ending didn’t necessarily set up a goodbye for Sanger or some of the other missing Bulldogs, the show’s brief explanation for why they’re not around still makes sense for season 4’s story.

Sanguinet Went Home For The Off-Season

With the boys still celebrating the aftermath of their NOSHO Cup win, Shoresy kicks off by revealing what the characters have been doing in the time since summer arrived in “Sudvegas.”

For the most part, the boys have been taking the NOSHO Cup around various Sudbury landmarks with fans and going inner tubing on the lake, though plenty of Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs staples are missing from the fun. Early in Shoresy season 4, it is confirmed that most of the players have left Sudbury for the summer, including Sanguinet.

The summer is the off-season for the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs in Jared Keeso's Letterkenny spinoff, which allows the players and staff on the team a chance to get out of town for a few months before the hockey season goes into full-force.

Shoresy briefly reveals that this is why Sanguinet is missing from the story, as he is gone home over the summer. However, Shoresy season 4 doesn’t reveal where exactly Sanguinet went or why exactly he chose to leave Sudbury behind for the summer.

Alongside Shoresy, the only Bulldogs who stayed in Sudbury over the summer were Hitch, Dolo, Michaels, Goody, and the three Jims. Since they were in town, Nat had the boys still put in some good work for the organization by becoming “Blueberry Buddies,” which saw them pair up with four teenage players on the youth Lakers ice hockey team before they went off to camp.

Most of the antics before Shoresy season 4’s ending were off the ice, giving a greater focus to Shoresy’s romance with Laura Mohr and the boys’ desire to get into Weird Sudbury.

Who Else Is Missing From Shoresy Season 4

Sanguinet Isn't The Only Absent Character

Though Sanguinet is the most prominent character missing from Shoresy season 4, he isn’t the only one absent from Sudbury over the summer. Also absent from Shoresy season 4 are the Bulldogs players Fish and JJ Frankie JJ.

While it’s assumed that these players also simply opted to spend the summer outside of Sudbury, their new locations weren’t specified. Fish’s choice is more difficult to pinpoint, but it can be assumed that JJ Frankie JJ went back to Quebec, which is where most of his stories and conflicts are based.

Since JJ Frankie JJ doesn’t appear in season 4 of the hit sports comedy show, that means that the recurring characters associated with him are also gone. That includes characters like Laurence Leboeuf, Reve, and Lysandre Nadeau.

Additionally, since the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs aren’t playing hockey, season 4 doesn’t bring back recurring figures like broadcasters Rémy Nadeau and Benny Brodeur. However, with season 5 bringing the boys back on the ice, those familiar characters are expected to return, potentially with more real-life hockey players and media personnel cameos on Shoresy.

Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat's Sanguinet remains absent from Shoresy season 5. This seems to confirm that his departure from the show is permanent. His absence from the series' most recent installment is also addressed on screen when Nat calls him to inform him that he will not be returning to the Sudbury Bulldogs as the coach.

He Has Appeared In Quite A Few Movies & Shows

After Shoresy, actor Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat has continued to build his acting portfolio by taking up roles in a wide range of movies and shows. For instance, in 2024's post-apocalyptic movie, The Fox, he co-starred alongside Carrie-Anne Moss and Frank Grillo. He was even a part of the cast of 2023's sports drama, Warrior Strong.

On the small screen, Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat played apart in Kurt Sutter's Netflix show, The Abandons. He also had a guest appearance in an episode of Renegade Fever. Beyond his acting career in shows like Shoresy, Kytwayhat has grown as a musician. He plays multiple instruments and even writes his own original songs.
