BAGUIO CITY — Seven people were rushed to a hospital as rescuers continued searching for other passengers of an elf truck that plunged down a steep slope along the Talubin-Barlig Road in Mountain Province capital town Bontoc, on Tuesday.

The truck was reportedly transporting 27 passengers when it skidded off the road along Sitio Jakap, Barangay Talubin, at around 12:40 p.m. and fell an estimated 50 to 100 meters down the slope, according to initial reports from the Bontoc Emergency Operations Center.

The truck was reportedly traveling from Isabela through the Paracelis road and was headed for Bakun town in Benguet.

Rescue teams from government agencies and nearby municipalities were deployed to the site after the accident was reported. They are conducting search and extraction operations along the steep terrain.

So far, seven passengers have been rescued and brought to the Bontoc General Hospital for emergency treatment and assessment.
