Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono is scheduled to undertake working visits to Australia and New Zealand next week to bolster bilateral cooperation across defense, economic resilience, and regional security.

Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang stated that Sugiono will begin his official itinerary in Melbourne on August 26 to attend the 10th Indonesia-Australia 2+2 Foreign and Defense Ministers' Meeting.

"The 2+2 Meeting serves as a strategic forum for both nations to discuss enhancing bilateral ties and key security issues of mutual interest," Yvonne told reporters during a media briefing in Jakarta on Thursday.

The high-level talks in Melbourne will focus on the implementation of the joint security treaty, defense cooperation, maritime security, conflict prevention, as well as supply chain continuity and economic resilience.

Following the Australian leg, FM Sugiono will travel to Auckland on August 28 for the Indonesia-New Zealand Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) Meeting.

Yvonne noted that the Auckland discussions will center on advancing bilateral programs and reviewing commitments as both countries prepare to commemorate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

She reaffirmed Jakarta's commitment to ensuring all agreed initiatives deliver measurable, concrete results for the public.
