Alexander Zverev won his semifinal match against Karen Khachanov in straight sets to enter his third Grand Slam Final of 2026.

He will now be awaiting the result of the Ben Shelton vs Frances Tiafoe semifinal to see who his opponent will be on Sunday.

The German won his first-ever Grand Slam at the Roland Garros by beating Flavio Cobolli. This time, however, he will have to beat an American at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York to win his second Grand Slam of the year.

Although he is a German player, Zverev has been well received by the crowd at the tournament. That is, however, expected to change after his comments post the semifinal win against Khachanov.

The All American semifinal between Shelton and Tiafoe will give either of the two players a chance to go to their first-ever Grand Slam Final.

John McEnroe has shown his confidence in Shelton to win the matchup, and even explained how he could win the tournament on Sunday as well.

It has been 23 years since an American has lifted the US Open trophy, and the hope is that either Shelton or Tiafoe will end that drought. However, Zverev has all the plans of stopping that from happening.

"I think it's going to be incredibly special, these two guys Frances and Ben they're gonna be crowd favorites here in New York," said Zverev in his post game interview.

"Everybody loves them, I think tonight is going to be an absolutely epic semifinal, and I am looking forward to watching it and hopefully I cannot make the American dream come true on Sunday."

Zverev has been dominant against both the Americans so far in his career. While he has beaten Shelton all five times in his career, the German has nine wins and one loss to Tiafoe.

The American audience will be hoping that either of the two will pull off something great, cause an upset in the final, and win the coveted US Open.
