‘I have film in mind for Superstar Rajinikanth’: Atlee spills the beans on possible collaboration with 'Jailer 2' actor

Atlee has once again found himself at the centre of attention over a possible collaboration with Rajinikanth. The filmmaker was asked about the possibility during a recent media interaction while promoting 'Baththa,' which he is presenting with his wife, Priya Atlee, serving as one of the producers.

While Atlee indicated that he does have an idea for a film with the superstar, he made it clear that he is not rushing into his next project. The director is currently focused on completing his upcoming Telugu film 'Raaka,' starring Allu Arjun.

Atlee says he has a film in mind for Rajinikanth

The question about Rajinikanth came up during the interaction, and Atlee gave fans a reason to stay curious. As reported by Cinema Express, the filmmaker confirmed that he has thought about working with the superstar but explained that his working style does not allow him to plan several projects at once.

“I take time with my films. Until I finish and release a film, I do not concentrate on anything else. Therefore, I am yet to think about my next film,” Atlee said.

His response suggests that a Rajinikanth project could be a possibility in the future, but there is no immediate plan in place.

Atlee explains why he does not plan multiple films at once

Atlee also looked back at his earlier career to explain his approach to filmmaking. He pointed out that he did not start planning 'Theri' while working on 'Raja Rani,' or 'Mersal' while making 'Theri.'

According to the director, he prefers to completely finish one film before turning his attention to the next. He also revealed that he plans to take a two-month break after 'Raaka' releases. During that period, Atlee intends to analyse the film, understand what worked and identify his mistakes before deciding on his next project.

This approach could also mean that any potential Rajinikanth collaboration may take some time to materialise.

Atlee’s 'Raaka' with Allu Arjun continues to build expectations

Meanwhile, Atlee’s immediate priority remains 'Raaka,' his first directorial venture with Allu Arjun, and the film also stars Deepika Padukone in a key role. The project has reportedly been planned as a large-scale science-fiction and fantasy entertainer, with Allu Arjun set to appear in a new avatar. The film recently earned a Guinness World Records recognition for a cinematic technology achievement involving real-time motion capture. While the makers have not yet announced its release date, Atlee’s comments show that he is firmly focused on taking 'Raaka' to completion before making his next move. For now, a Rajinikanth film remains an exciting possibility rather than an immediate announcement.
