KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has apologised to affected passengers following an incident in which the Anak Bukit Station main gate failed to open as scheduled early this morning.

KTMB said preliminary investigations found that the station was scheduled to begin operations at 5.30 am, but the staff member assigned to work failed to report for duty due to health reasons.

“Upon being informed at about 5.55 am that the station gate was still locked, the officer on duty tried to contact the staff member concerned but was unsuccessful.

“Immediate action was taken by instructing a counter clerk from a nearby station, who was scheduled to report for duty at 7 am, to arrive earlier at Anak Bukit Station,” KTMB said in a statement.

It said the replacement staff member arrived at 6.30 am and the station’s main gate was successfully opened.

Preliminary checks found that an estimated 25 passengers were affected and missed two KTM Komuter services, namely Train 2901 and Train 2903, which were scheduled to depart from Anak Bukit Station at 5.58 am and 6.18 am, respectively.

KTMB stressed that it took the incident seriously and was conducting a further investigation in accordance with existing procedures, while assuring that station access according to operating hours, as well as passenger safety and comfort, remained its priorities. — Bernama
