When it comes to shapewear, few brands have generated quite as much buzz as SKIMS. Founded by Kim Kardashian, the label has become a go-to for everything from barely-there underwear to sculpting bodysuits and seriously comfortable loungewear.
And its popularity shows no signs of slowing down: this summer, SKIMS opened its first UK flagship on London’s Regent Street, with the 12,000 sq ft space becoming its largest retail destination in Europe. A second standalone UK store is also planned for Westfield London in early 2027.
Skims has also launched various brand collaborations with the likes of Nike, North Face and Swarovski, which have almost always sold out quickly.
But with prices starting at £22 for a thong and climbing above £100 for some of its sculpting pieces, is SKIMS really worth the investment?
Other high street giants have released their own lookalike shapewear collections. M&S's BODY launch – a 300-piece seamless underwear collection to sculpt your figure – was hugely popular. But that's not stopped shoppers buying into Kim's much more expensive brand.
Many of the fashion experts on YOU Magazine have had Skims pieces in their wardrobes for years – from its viral seamless underwear to the sleepwear and shapewear that have earned Kim's creation cult status.
Here, they reveal the 11 pieces they'd genuinely recommend adding to your basket...
SKIMS Fits Everybody Triangle Bralette
Charlotte Vossen, deputy digital editor
My all-time favourite off-duty bra, I own this in two colours and wear it at weekends, when I’m lounging around the house or travelling. The adjustable straps and elasticated underband offer a comfortable fit, while the super-soft, stretchy fabric means there’s no digging in. It’s the kind of everyday essential you barely notice you’re wearing – in the best possible way.

I’m somewhat addicted to pyjamas, so I hate to admit it, but these really are worth the price tag – I own two sets. The menswear-inspired button-down top and elasticated-waist trousers are my favourite style of PJs, making you feel put-together even when you’re heading to bed. The ribbed fabric is incredibly soft, too, and doesn’t need ironing. A win-win.
SKIMS Soft Smoothing Seamless Thong
Charlotte Vossen, deputy digital editor
These are so comfortable that I own three pairs. They sit at the mid-waist and have a seamless finish, so visible panty lines are never a concern. I’ve put mine through countless washes, yet they still look as good as new. For an everyday underwear staple, that’s a pretty impressive result.
Sophie Dearden-Howell, fashion director
The most comfortable strapless bra for everyday wear – and, crucially, it actually offers support. No constant readjusting or worrying about whether everything is staying in place. I’d happily have one in every single shade.
SKIMS Soft Lounge Long Slip Dress
Sophie Dearden-Howell, fashion director
These dresses are genuinely brilliant. They’re flattering, incredibly comfortable and surprisingly versatile – the sort of throw-on piece that works for so many occasions. Sometimes, the simplest wardrobe staples really are the best.
SKIMS Seamless Sculpt Thong Bodysuit
Sophie Dearden-Howell, fashion director
If I could own just one piece of underwear, it would be this. Whether I’m wearing it under an evening dress or pairing it with jeans and a T-shirt, it creates a brilliant silhouette and keeps everything in place. It’s a seriously versatile piece that earns its place in your wardrobe.
SKIMS Body Core Sculpt Plunge Thong Bodysuit
Hannah Skelley, fashion editor
I’ve worn this black seamless thong bodysuit to four different weddings, under all sorts of occasion dresses – some of them sheer – and it’s never let me down. It’s pricey but I might even go as far as saying it’s the best £104 I’ve spent on underwear. I’m now contemplating asking for the nude version for Christmas. Call me odd, but I love a practical gift.
NikeSKIMS Studio Stretch 17-inch Capri Legging
Hannah Skelley, fashion editor
Capri leggings might be a Marmite trend, but if you’re tempted to give them a go, I’d highly recommend these. At 5ft 9in, I often find capris too short on me, but this pair hits at just the right point, keeping my proportions balanced without awkwardly cutting off my leg line. If you’re looking to try the trend, these are a great place to start.
Hannah Skelley, fashion editor
These are genuinely invisible under everything from leggings and slip dresses to gym shorts. Better still, my pair has survived countless washes without losing its shape. If you’re after underwear that won’t show through your clothes, this is a reliable option.
SKIMS Seamless Sculpt Mid Thigh Short
Jessica Carroll, junior style editor
I’ve tried countless pairs of sculpting shorts, and they’ve almost always disappointed. Either they offer little support or the legs roll up as soon as you start moving. So ahead of a recent wedding where I was a bridesmaid, I decided to invest in a pricier pair – and I’m never going back. These offered brilliant support without showing through my light-coloured dress. Exactly what you want from good shapewear.
SKIMS Seamless Sculpt Mid Thigh Bodysuit
Maddy Fletcher, senior features writer
I spent ages dithering over this purchase. More than £80, I thought, was a lot of money to spend on a unitard. But everyone kept insisting that SKIMS was actually worth the hype, and after trying a Marks & Spencer dupe that was, frankly, a bit rubbish, I finally took the plunge. A wedding and a slightly-too-tight suit later, I was very glad I did.
The fabric is robust and thick enough to provide proper coverage – unlike my rather flimsy M&S alternative – while the close fit feels supportive enough to make me think my posture has improved, too. It also has an almost silky finish, meaning you could wear it as a top in its own right. So, thank you, Kim. I love it! And if you’re reading, please could you make a version in plain white?
