Watch Keanu Reeves rock out to ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ after introducing Peter Hook & The Light in San Francisco

Keanu Reeves has been spotted rocking out to ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ at a recent Peter Hook & The Light gig, after introducing the band to the stage. Watch below.

The gig took place at The Warfield in San Francisco last week (Monday September 21), as Peter Hook – legendary bassist and co-founder of Joy Division and New Order – took to the stage with his band The Light.

Reeves is a longtime fan of Joy Division, and previously revealed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert that their 1980 classic ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ would be his desert island song.

It was fitting then that he helped introduce the band to the stage on the night – welcoming “the one, the only Peter Hook & The Light” and saying that they would be “playing the music we all love from then, today and tomorrow”.

From there, Hook and the band took to the stage for a huge set filled with Joy Division and New Order songs, as well as ‘Tender’ and ‘What Do You Want From Me?’ by Monaco – the band he formed in the mid ‘90s.

At the end of the 26-song setlist, Hook closed things out by playing ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, and Reeves was spotted enthusiastically rocking out to the track from a private box.

The run of live shows from Hook and co. comes as the bassist is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year – celebrated for his work with both Joy Division and New Order.

Other artists being inducted for the Class of 2026 include Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.

Ahead of the induction, New Order‘s Stephen Morris has also spoken out about the chances of reconciling with Hook and described him as an “angry person”.

As for Reeves, his own band Dogstar formed in 1994 and came back after a long hiatus in 2023. Earlier this year, they dropped their new album ‘All In Now’.

Since then, they have been busy with a UK and European tour in June and July, as well as festival slots at Download, Pinkpop, Mad Cool and Nos Alive. They also played at a venue just down the street from The Warfield the night after the Peter Hook show in San Francisco.
