Marcos distributes rice, cash assistance in Negros Oriental


MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday led the distribution of rice and cash assistance in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
During the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang program, a total of 2,230 beneficiaries comprising farmers, fisherfolk, vendors, laborers, and other low-income earners received 10 kilos of rice.
This initiative will run every two months or six times a year to help ensure food security among vulnerable sectors.

“At natutuwa naman ako, kakarating lang ng bagong istatistiko, naibigay sa akin noong isang araw at sinabi na mula noong sinimulan natin itong mga programang ito, six and a half million Filipinos have been removed from poverty,” Marcos said in his speech at the Talay Gymnasium.

“Kaya’t maganda naman ang naging epekto. Ako’y natutuwa na ‘yung ating mga ginagawa ay mayroon talagang natutulungan at marami talaga tayong naiaahon sa kagutuman at sa kahirapan. Kaya po, ito ay papatuloy po natin,” he also said.

During the program, the President also led the ceremonial handover of cash support to 15 students, with every student receiving P20,000.

Moreover, Marcos also paid a visit to the 302nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army in Camp Leon Kilat sa Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
He acknowledged their efforts in internal security operations, coordination with local governments and other security partners, as well as in humanitarian assistance and disaster response. /cb
