Murder investigation after e-bike cyclist, 24, killed in collision with moped

A murder probe has been launched after a 24-year-old e-bike cyclist was found fatally wounded from a collision with a moped.

Police believe the moped was pursuing the e-bike prior to the crash in Kensington, west London, at 1am on Friday, the Metropolitan Police said.

Officers were called to reports of a man found seriously injured in North Pole Road, west London, about 20 minutes later. London Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Met is searching for the moped rider and is appealing for witnesses to the collision and preceding events.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at what is a very difficult time.

“We have launched a full investigation and are working hard to get answers and establish exactly what happened.

“Our team are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry, including efforts to identify and trace the rider of the moped.”

He added: “As part of this, we’re urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the e-bike or the moped to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“If you have any information that could help, please come forward.”
