Cage The Elephant are back with “Dying In Reverse,” a hazy, psych-rock slow-burn that waxes poetic on breaking the wheel. The track follows July’s “Beaches In Tennessee” and will also appear on the EA Sports FC 27 soundtrack when the game launches September 25th.

For Matthew Shultz, the song is about shedding a former self and moving forward. “‘Dying In Reverse’ is essentially about a fresh start or a rebirth of sorts,” he said. “More in terms of death to ego, renewing the mind and heart. The journey of turning your perspective away from self in order to see more clearly through the lens of love and connect to deeper purpose.” The band has been working with producers Justin Raisen and SADPONY’s Jeremiah Raisen.

Cage The Elephant will head to Munich on November 15th to perform the NFL halftime show during the New England Patriots and Detroit Lions game. They’ll return to Europe in February 2027 for a tour that wraps at London’s Alexandra Palace on March 1st. Listen to “Dying In Reverse” below.
