Eskom announces a 10-hour power outage in parts of Gauteng on Tuesday

Eskom has announced a 10-hour planned power outage in parts of Ga-Rankuwa, north of Pretoria, on Tuesday, 10 November.
The power utility says the electricity supply interruption will allow its teams to carry out planned maintenance on the distribution network. The outage will run from 8:00 to 18:00.
Eskom’s Gauteng Communication and Stakeholder Management team issued the notice to customers in the area this month.
Areas affected by the Ga-Rankuwa power outage
The outage will affect customers in parts of the following areas:
- Block V
- Hebron
- Itsoseng Phase 3 and 5
The utility says the interruption is necessary to perform essential maintenance on its distribution power lines. Residents and businesses in these areas should plan for a full working day without electricity.
Households can prepare by charging phones and power banks the night before, storing drinking water and planning meals that do not need electricity. Businesses may need to arrange backup power or adjust their trading hours.
Eskom safety warning during the outage
Eskom advises customers to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the outage. Power can return without warning once maintenance is complete, so residents should never assume lines or appliances are safe to touch.
The utility also thanked customers for their cooperation and apologised for any inconvenience the maintenance may cause.
Eskom added a disclaimer to the notice. Should circumstances beyond its control arise, the planned maintenance may not proceed as communicated. Customers should stay alert for any updates on the day.
