KC Bokadia recalls Shah Rukh Khan once said, 'What money, sir? Leave it' about the pending Rs 95 lakh fee for 'Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam'

Filmmaker KC Bokadia has recalled a touching incident involving Shah Rukh Khan from the making of ‘Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’. He revealed that the actor was ready to give up the remaining Rs 95 lakh of his fee because of the regard he had for the producer.

KC Bokadia talks about the Rs 2 crore agreement

Speaking to ANI, KC Bokadia said he had signed Shah Rukh Khan for Rs 2 crore, of which Rs 1.05 crore had already been paid. However, the actor reportedly did not want to take the balance amount, pointing to the personal bond and mutual respect the two shared.

What Shah Rukh Khan told KC Bokadia’s son

KC Bokadia said, “We were doing 'Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam'. One day, he told my son that ‘Mr Bokadia is a very good man. I will not take any money from him.' I never told him anything.

My son said, ‘Mr. Khan, there is no such problem. We are men of our words.’ Shah Rukh Khan then said, ‘You didn’t tell me anything, Bokadia sahab. I am speaking this from my own mind. I know that you will sell something and give it to me. I will attend a wedding for 5 minutes and bring the money.

’”

Meeting at Empire Studio

The matter came up again a few years later, when KC Bokadia was mixing a film at Empire Studio. Shah Rukh Khan arrived there and greeted him warmly.

Recalling the conversation, the filmmaker said, “One day, after 3-4 years, I was mixing at Empire Studio when Shah Rukh Khan sir came. He was like, ‘How are you, Bokadia sahab?’ When I asked him about the money, he said, ‘What money, sir? Leave it.’”The story reflects the warmth and generosity of the superstar. Despite the large amount involved, he valued his relationship with the producer more than the pending payment.
