Veteran actress Anita Kanwal has responded to reports suggesting that she is facing financial difficulties and seeking monetary assistance, saying the coverage has caused her considerable distress.

In a video shared on social media, the 72-year-old actress clarified that her comments about managing without an income for one to one-and-a-half years were made during an interview recorded around six months ago. She alleged that her remarks were taken out of context and denied that she was asking anyone for financial help.

Anita Kanwal says financial crisis reports left her sleepless

Anita Kanwal has expressed disappointment over news reports that portrayed her as struggling financially and seeking assistance.

In a video shared on social media, the actress said she had been awake at 3:45 am, distressed by the way her financial situation was being discussed.Explaining the context, Kanwal said journalist Vickey Lalwani had interviewed her around six months earlier. During that conversation, she was asked how long she could manage financially if she had no income or work opportunities. The actress recalled saying that she could sustain herself for approximately one to one-and-a-half years without earning.

She alleged that the statement was subsequently presented in a way that suggested she was seeking monetary support.Reacting to the reports, she said, “Aise likh rahe hain ki main bheek maang rahi hoon logon se. Yeh galat baat hai.(They are writing as if I am begging people for money. This is wrong.)”

Anita Kanwal denies seeking financial assistance

The 72-year-old actress objected to the suggestion that she was in a financial mess, stressing that her comments about managing without work should not be interpreted as a request for help.

She also said her circumstances had changed since the interview was recorded.Kanwal explained that she had since secured a film project, begun receiving collaboration offers on Instagram and independently created a reel drama series. She said these developments were not reflected in the reports discussing her earlier remarks. The actress also maintained that she was capable of managing her finances and planning for the years ahead.

According to her, the coverage had created a misleading impression of her current circumstances.

‘Mere naam ko badnaam mat kariye’: Anita Kanwal reacts to reports

Kanwal further criticised the way the reports had portrayed her, reiterating that she was not seeking money from the public.“Aap log aise likh rahe hain ki mere paas paise nahi hain, main logon se bheek maang rahi hoon. Yeh galat baat hai! Aise kyun dikha rahe hain ki Anita is in a financial mess? I am not (You people are writing as if I don't have any money and I'm begging people for help.

This is wrong! Why are you portraying it like Anita is in a financial mess? I am not),” she said. The actress added that she did not wish to depend financially on her children, questioning why she would seek assistance from others if she was not asking her own family for money.“Mere naam ko iss tarah badnaam mat kariye, iss umar mein,” she concluded. Her statement was a response to the interpretation of her earlier comments, rather than an announcement that she was facing an immediate financial emergency.

Kanwal’s central objection was that a discussion about financial preparedness had been presented as a plea for monetary assistance.
