'Queen Budapest' Hits Theaters in IMAX 4K This October

In July of 1986, Queen performed the largest stadium concert ever at the Népstadion in Budapest for a sea of 80,000 adoring fans. This concert was part of Queen’s Magic Tour, the last time the band ever toured with Mercury as their lead singer. Now, from the late director János Zsombolyai, Queen Budapest has been masterfully restored in 4K, with a dynamic new audio mix. The concert film chronicles this epic night, which features many of Queen’s biggest hits, including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and “I Want to Break Free.”

Queen Budapest covers a historical moment, taking place three years before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It was the first Western rock concert performed at a stadium behind the then-Iron Curtain, and was such a significant moment that the country’s top cameramen and technicians were enlisted to capture it all on 35mm. That footage has now been remastered in 4K at Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production in New Zealand to offer fans the chance to see it all in a stunning new way on screen, in IMAX, from producers Rob Stringer, Tom Mackay, Richard Story, Charlie Stanford, and Josh Cheuse.
