General Dynamics (GD) said post-market Wednesday that its board selected Danny Deep, who currently serves as president of the company, to become the new CEO effective January 1, succeeding Phebe Novakovic, who will transition to executive chairman.

Deep, who was named president in December 2025, has been with the company for 25 years, serving in positions of increasing responsibility, including executive VP of Global Operations, executive VP of Combat Systems, and president of Land Systems.

Novakovic has served as General Dynamics' (GD) chairman and CEO since January 2013 and has been a director since 2012, after previously holding positions including president, COO, and executive VP of Marine Systems; she is also on the board of J.P. Morgan Chase.

General Dynamics (GD) raised its full-year profit forecast in July after reporting better-than-expected Q2 adjusted earnings of $4.24/share amid strong demand for the company's defense and aerospace products.
