High Court overturns Army Radio closure, says Israeli gov't acted on 'improper' motives

Translate

The High Court of Justice on Thursday struck down the Israeli government's decision to close Army Radio.

The court voted unanimously in favor of petitions filed against the planned closure, arguing that the government's decision was based on "improper and invalid considerations."

The government unanimously approved Army Radio’s closure, after 75 years of broadcasting, in December 2025. The closure was set to go into effect on March 1, 2026, but was delayed after the court said it would hear petitions filed by the Academy for a Democratic Israel and the Union of Journalists in Israel.
