Coronation Street airs major Jodie Ramsey and Bethany Platt twist in early ITVX release

Jodie Ramsey's (Olivia Frances Brown) downfall has finally arrived in Coronation Street – though she's fired back with a vicious blackmail threat.

Today's episode kicked off with the enigmatic character secretly retrieving her trinket box from dad Doug's (Steve Evets) camper van, before returning home and realising that he'd both the toaster and the biscuit tin.

David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) expressed concerns for his mental health, though she was quick to insist that he probably needs his medication adjusted. As viewers know, Jodie tampered with the pills last week by replacing them with everyday painkillers.

Meanwhile, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) confided in niece Bethany (Lucy Fallon) that she was becoming increasingly concerned about her own mental health. She's frequently heard baby Harper crying, even when she was nowhere nearby. Of course, this has been another of Jodie's evil schemes.

Bethany later discovered Doug searching frantically through his van and immediately realised that something was wrong. He explained that he was trying to find something belonging to Jodie, which he believed formed part of her plan and was something Shona needed to see.

When David and Shona arrived back at No. 8 with a confused Doug, Jodie immediately became defensive. He told the couple that he'd seen a butchered version of their wedding photograph and he believed this proved that Jodie was attempting to take over her sister’s life.

David and Shona were left bewildered by his accusations, and Doug then stunned his daughter again by claiming that her husband had been having an affair with Jodie. David firmly denied the allegation, while Shona supported him and insisted that it was not true.

Later, Jodie contacted Doug’s doctor and accused him of posing a danger to the family. A mental health team arrived on the cobbles to assess him and took him away.

Bethany then arrived at the Platt residence and found Jodie playing a recording of Harper crying while making adjustments to the speaker. Horrified by what she had discovered, she reached for her phone to contact Shona.

However, before she could do so, Jodie played her a recording of Bethany’s conversation with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) about the night they had slept together, leaving her with no choice but to keep quiet.

What will Bethany do?
