Marafa vows to end banditry in Zamfara

The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Zamfara State, Kabiru Marafa, has promised to tackle insecurity and end banditry in the state within his first tenure in office if elected in 2027.

He said banditry activities could be addressed within the shortest possible time if given the necessary attention and seriousness.

Speaking on Thursday, the former lawmaker stressed that the fight against insecurity and banditry was not given adequate attention by the appropriate authorities.

“I will either end banditry in my first tenure in office or resign. I was commissioner in the state and senator at the National Assembly for many years. As such, I am conversant with the problems affecting my state as well as the country in general.

“If elected as governor in the coming general elections, within a period of two years, I will end insecurity in the state by the grace of God or vacate my office,” he said.

He urged the people of the state to give him their support and cooperation to ensure the success of all the NDC candidates at the 2027 elections.

He maintained that he would take the state to greater heights, adding that other critical sectors of the economy would be given due attention, particularly those with direct impact on women and youths.

“As you are aware, women, children and youths constitute a higher percentage of the population of every nation.

“As such, I will do everything humanly possible to ensure that they reap dividends of democracy under my administration if elected as governor,” he said.
