Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived at the Bunga Raya Complex at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) about 6.20pm today to begin a 2-day state visit to Malaysia.

He was received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

El-Sisi is visiting Malaysia at the invitation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.

In a Facebook post, Anwar welcomed El-Sisi and said he had headed to the Bunga Raya Complex after tabling the 2027 Budget to receive the Egyptian president.

"Tomorrow, we will hold a bilateral meeting to assess progress in our cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues, besides witnessing the exchange of several memorandums of understanding between Malaysia and Egypt," he said.

The visit is El-Sisi's first to Malaysia since he became Egypt's president in June 2014.
