Ebonyi PDP gov candidate promises economic transformation

Translate

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the Saturday, February 6, 2027 election, Dr Ifeanyi Odii, has vowed to reposition the healthcare, education and agriculture sectors of Ebonyi State if elected.

According to him, the state was owned by the people and should be run by the people, querying why a select few should be allowed to decide the affairs of over five million Ebonyians.

He stated this while speaking to party faithful at a meeting in Abakaliki on Thursday, saying the time to rescue the state was now.

The PDP standard bearer, who promised to run an inclusive governance, said his campaign will be issues-based. He further stated that it was high time the state was liberated from the shackles of underdevelopment.

He said, “I do not take your acts of patriotism, dedication, sacrifice, and statesmanship for granted. I am perpetually inspired by your willingness, passion, and unalloyed loyalty. I am fully convinced that the time to rescue our dear state from the shackles of bad governance is now.

“As the embargo has been lifted for all campaign activities and we step into the field, let me remind us that our campaign will be strictly issues-based. We are running this election together to rescue our state; therefore, there will be no room for the politics of hate, intimidation, harassment, or any form of assault. We will not throw a stone into a crowded market, as it may hit one of our own.

“However, we will never tolerate any form of state-sponsored hostility. We shall keep our eyes firmly on the ball, anchored by an absolute commitment to the rules of engagement.

“We are at a defining moment in the history of our dear state, and history will record us as highly determined citizens who came, saw, and conquered. Be cheerful, for we have overcome our adversaries.

“Our greatest strength lies in the fact that our people are with us; they are eager for change, growth, progress, and prosperity. The time to make it happen is now.

“Let me state clearly as a matter of public concern: no leadership ambition is worth the life or blood of any citizen. Any leader who attacks or sponsors violence against their people simply because of their choice of party or lawful association has missed the mark and failed the test of genuine love for the people. We will not give in to any form of violence or intimidation.”

He lamented that it was worrisome that the government of the day had weaponised hunger and poverty, apparently to reduce the people, especially the youths, to political thuggery and electoral malpractices.

“It is deeply saddening that the current ruling class has weaponised hunger and poverty as tools for state control, reducing our youth to thuggery for survival.

“Though we see the true hearts of our youth and choose not to count these temporary trials against them, we urgently call for a collective reimagining of a state that works for all. I celebrate the unbreakable resilience of Ebonyi youths.

“Under our administration, every young person will be treated with dignity, respect, and the support needed to build a sustainable future they can be proud of.

“What our people need in this election is restoration — the assurance of genuine hope. We must go out and let them know that, yes, we can. That is the true spirit of Anyi G’Emeya.

“Drawing directly from our blueprint, ‘A Promise of Possibility,’ our government, come May 29, 2027, is committed to lifting our people out of poverty of mind and substance across all foundational sectors.

“At the very heart of this movement is a bold, transcendent calling to uplift our citizens. Our vision is to transform Ebonyi State into Nigeria’s foremost model of inclusive development: a globally competitive, industrialized, innovation-led, and investment-ready economy where accountable governance, world-class infrastructure, quality education, universal healthcare, productive agriculture, thriving enterprises, and social justice create shared prosperity and limitless opportunity for every citizen and community.”
