The 25-year-old Bafana Bafana striker makes the switch after four seasons with Burnley FC.

It was where he made 89 league appearances across the Premier League and EFL Championship, scoring 11 goals.

Foster played an important role in Burnley FC’s promotion campaigns, helping the Clarets win the 2022/23 EFL Championship title before securing automatic promotion again with a second-place finish in the 2024/25 EFL Championship season.

LYLE FOSTER BRINGS PREMIER LEAGUE EXPERIENCE

His most recent campaign produced three goals and two assists in 26 Premier League appearances.

Foster scored against Manchester United at Old Trafford, struck a 95th-minute winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and also found the net against Tottenham Hotspur.

Houston Dynamo FC president of soccer Pat Onstad believes Foster will add another dimension to the club’s attack.

The loan is until next summer and the Dynamo hold a purchase option of $7 million (R112 million.

“Lyle presents another powerful, mobile forward to our attacking group,” said Onstad.

“He threatens the space behind the back line, links play well and brings the work rate and intensity that we demand without the ball.

Lyle’s experience in the Premier League and on the international stage will strengthen our group, and we are excited to welcome him to Houston as we prepare for a strong finish to the season.”

The Bafana Bafana star originally joined Burnley FC from Belgian club K.V.C. Westerlo in January 2023 after scoring 12 goals in 44 league appearances for the club.

The South African had previously helped K.V.C. Westerlo win the Belgian second-division title and gain promotion, before making the step up to the Belgian Pro League.

Foster’s professional journey began in South Africa with Orlando Pirates, where he came through the club’s academy before making the move to Europe.

Foster joined AS Monaco in January 2019 and subsequently spent time with Cercle Brugge in Belgium and Vitória S.C. in Portugal before establishing himself at K.V.C. Westerlo and eventually earning his move to Burnley FC.

HOUSTON DYNAMO FC ADD BAFANA STAR

Foster arrives in Houston as an established South Africa international, having earned 33 senior caps and scored 11 goals for South Africa since making his debut in 2018.

He was part of the Bafana Bafana squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Foster also scored twice at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where South Africa reached the Round of 16.

The forward played a key role during 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying, scoring in victories over Benin and Lesotho as Bafana Bafana secured qualification for their first World Cup since hosting the tournament in 2010.
